A traffic accident on Thursday on the Pinar del Río Highway resulted in a driver being injured and significant property damage, after a truck veered off the road and collided with a tree. Daniel Quintana Hernández shared photos of the accident on the Facebook group "Accidents Buses & Trucks for More Experience and Fewer Victims."

This incident is part of a troubling trend of traffic accidents in Cuba. Early Wednesday morning, a tragic accident occurred at kilometer 212 of the National Highway near Cienfuegos, claiming the life of a minor.

Later that same day, another accident took place in the Calzada de Santo Suárez area in Diez de Octubre municipality, Havana. In this case, a motorcyclist was injured after being struck by a truck around 4:00 p.m. According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclist sustained injuries to one of his feet.

The ongoing series of accidents across various provinces highlights once again the dangerous nature of Cuban roads. Contributing factors include the poor condition of roadways, the aging vehicle fleet, and driver negligence, all of which lead to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries each year.
