Cuban activist Anamely Ramos revealed on Tuesday that rapper and political prisoner Maykel Castillo, known as “Osorbo,” has been relocated to the Kilo 8 prison in Camagüey. It appears he will face new charges, though the specific allegations have not been shared with his family or close associates.

Through a post on Facebook, Ramos highlighted the ongoing plight of the musician, a member of the San Isidro Movement and co-author of the protest anthem "Patria y Vida." She described Castillo as being in a state of defiance against the oppression he has endured since his youth. “He is prepared to die, and this has long been his stance. Maykel would rather face death than return to that place,” she declared, holding the Cuban regime accountable for any harm that might come to him.

Additionally, Ramos addressed the State Security directly, as well as individuals she accuses of orchestrating smear campaigns against Osorbo. She noted that with each surge in media attacks, the government intensifies its retaliation against him.

Now residing in the United States, Ramos remains closely linked to Maykel Osorbo. She plays a crucial role in advocating for his condition, demanding transparency and open communication to verify his well-being. She has also pledged to continue updating the public on Osorbo's status and that of other political prisoners in Cuba.

Castillo has been held since May 2021, far from his home, in what supporters describe as an attempt to break him both physically and mentally. His co-authorship of "Patria y Vida" has elevated the song to anthem status among Cuban protestors. His imprisonment has drawn condemnation from international organizations and human rights advocates who view him as a prisoner of conscience.
