Flor de Cuba Takes Legal Stand: Claims Otaola is Dodging Defamation Lawsuit

Thursday, August 14, 2025 by Isabella Sanchez

The Cuban influencer Flor de Cuba announced on Wednesday that media personality Alexander Otaola is allegedly trying to escape a defamation lawsuit filed against him in the United States. Through her social media platforms, Flor disclosed that on July 3rd, Otaola requested the judge to dismiss the lawsuit she initiated before the trial could take place.

"Let me make it clear: when someone seeks to have a lawsuit dismissed before trial, it's because they lack evidence, have no proof, and cannot defend themselves," Flor stated firmly. She reiterated that Otaola's accusations were baseless from the start and that he is now attempting to evade justice. “This man has not a single piece of evidence to support the claims he loudly made against me. This is proof that he is a liar, a psychopath,” she declared.

Flor recounted that among the allegations leading to the lawsuit, Otaola accused her of being a “sex worker for the Castro family,” a spy for the Cuban government, and of involvement in human and drug trafficking networks. He even alleged she had a child with Sandro Castro, Fidel Castro’s grandson, based on a public photo of the two in a bar.

These defamations, Flor asserted, have caused her significant psychological and personal harm. She revealed she had to close her academy in Cuba after Otaola claimed it was a place for prostituting models, and as a result, she has faced commercial boycotts, public rejection, and even death threats.

The next hearing, set to occur virtually in September, will determine whether the lawsuit proceeds or if Otaola’s request for dismissal is granted. Flor concluded with determination, “The one who claims to know the truth about everyone is now running away.”
