Accusations Against Cuban Influencers: “They've Been Here Less Than a Year and Already Flaunt Hermès”

Saturday, August 16, 2025 by Joseph Morales

A Cuban woman living in the United States took to TikTok to expose what she sees as a misleading trend among certain Cuban influencers: showcasing counterfeit luxury handbags on social media.

“I'm fed up with these Cuban influencers. Enough with the lies. I can't take it anymore. They need to stop what they're doing in DMs, with those Chanel bags and fake purses,” she declared, visibly frustrated in the video.

The woman claimed that many of these content creators have been in the country for less than a year and, “from the moment they arrive, they have their first Hermès bag in just a week.”

However, she insists these are replicas, not genuine items. “Those are knock-offs. I guarantee they don't know the original price of an Hermès bag,” she stated, pointing out that an authentic one can cost over $21,000 and involves a specific purchasing process.

In her accusation, the Cuban woman stated that these bags are bought in Chinatown stores for around $300. “That's how you can have this bag, along with Hermès flip-flops and everything else,” she added, addressing the alleged buyers directly.

The video quickly went viral on social media, sparking an intense debate about the authenticity of luxury items showcased by some influencers and the pressure to project a lavish lifestyle on digital platforms.
