Another detainee, Carlos Enrique Choc-Sacul, a 36-year-old Guatemalan, had been deported multiple times and had convictions for forgery. Additionally, Francisco Javier Martínez Robles, a 35-year-old Mexican, had previously been deported and was convicted in 2022 for assaulting a family member.
This operation is part of a broader strategy by the current federal administration to tighten immigration control in urban areas with high concentrations of immigrants. While ICE emphasizes that arrests focus on individuals with criminal backgrounds, human rights advocates have raised concerns about the impact on working communities and the raids' occurrence in residential areas.
