The Cuban regime, represented by the Port Authority of Santiago de Cuba, has announced the temporary seizure of a boat found on June 7 near the town of Uvero, in the Guamá municipality, Santiago de Cuba province. This discovery, reported through the state-run Granma, was executed under article 214, section c), of Decree No. 317, which is part of the Regulation of Law No. 115 "On Maritime, River, and Lake Navigation."

The vessel in question is a Zodiac-type boat, featuring a rubber and plastic hull, painted in white and red, with dimensions of 2.40 meters in length, 1.40 meters in beam, and 0.40 meters in depth. It is powered by a Mercury outboard motor, 6.0 HP, with the serial number 02134266. The identifier "AXE-F82731" is visible on the port side bow.

Authorities have urged any individual or legal entity wishing to claim ownership of the boat to present themselves at the Port Authority of Santiago de Cuba, located at Avenida Jesús Menéndez, La Alameda, within thirty calendar days from the publication of this notice. Interested parties are required to provide legal documentation proving ownership or possession of the discovered asset.

This seizure of boats found in Cuban waters aligns with current regulations aiming to ensure safety and sovereignty over the island's maritime territory, according to the regime in Havana. The Border Guard Troops, under the Ministry of the Interior, are charged with the detection, management, and disposition of these vessels.

The Cuban authorities suspect that these boats are often used by migrants attempting to reach southern Florida, conducting mid-sea transfers. Additionally, some vessels are believed to have been owned by regional drug traffickers who abandon boats and rafts while fleeing after being detected by authorities.

In June, the Ministry of the Interior reported the confiscation of two vessels found in the Matanzas province. In May, the Directorate of the Border Guard Troops disclosed that on April 26, a nameless black and yellow jet ski, numbered FL3058TC, was discovered in the Quebrado el Real area, in the Nuevitas municipality, Camagüey province.
