A swimmer turned good Samaritan stumbled upon an unexpected find this Monday at the Seafarer Resort and Beach, a quaint hotel in the Florida Keys. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported on social media that the individual discovered a black bag containing 51,550 Cuban pesos, a loaded Glock pistol, Cuban and American passports, and a mobile phone with its charging cable.

The unusual discovery took place around 2:36 p.m. near Mile Marker 97 on the bayside of Key Largo, the largest and most accessible key in the chain. Local law enforcement has handed over all the items to the U.S. Border Patrol, which is now leading the investigation.

The Seafarer Resort and Beach is a seaside retreat known for its relaxed, rustic vibe, providing peaceful family experiences away from large hotel chains. As of now, authorities have not disclosed any information regarding the origin of the money, the owners of the passports, or any arrests linked to this intriguing find.
