A tragic road accident early Sunday morning resulted in the preliminary loss of two lives and left at least 27 individuals injured. The incident took place at kilometer 727 on the Bayamo-Las Tunas highway in Granma province. The collision involved a bus rented by the National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC) of BioCubaFarma, traveling from Havana to Santiago de Cuba.

According to initial reports from the state-run broadcaster CNC TV Granma, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a fixed obstacle. The front of the bus sustained significant damage. One person died at the accident scene, while the other succumbed to injuries later at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Provincial Hospital in Bayamo, where all the injured were taken. Official sources confirmed that at least one minor was among the injured.

Dr. Adonis Frómeta Guerra, general director of the Bayamo hospital, stated that six of the injured required surgical intervention. "Specialized care conditions are ensured, with all necessary medical personnel and resources available," Frómeta assured.

Images captured at the accident site during the early hours reveal the severity of the impact: the bus is seen tipped over on its side with a destroyed engine, while rescuers work tirelessly to assist the trapped passengers. Emergency medical teams and ambulances were also present at the scene.

The Communist Party's first secretary in the province, Yudelkis Ortiz Barceló, and Governor Yanetsy Terry Gutiérrez visited the site to oversee the care of the injured and stay informed about the patients' recovery.

Joint forces from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) are conducting an investigation to ascertain the exact causes of this unfortunate incident. The situation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to provide more updates in the coming hours regarding the condition of the injured and the circumstances surrounding the accident.
