Long-Distance Love: Cuban Woman in U.S. Stands Up for Her Cross-Border Relationship

Thursday, July 31, 2025 by Claire Jimenez

A Cuban woman known on TikTok as @lisiminivlog has taken to the platform to defend her long-distance relationship with her boyfriend in Cuba, following a wave of criticism on social media. "Ninety miles apart: John in Miami, my boyfriend in Cuba. We've maintained a long-distance relationship for over a year and a half. We've known each other for more than 15 years, and we share a beautiful, stable, and healthy relationship, surrounded by many supportive people who wish us well," she expressed in her post.

Despite this, she acknowledged not everyone is supportive: "There are many who dislike my relationship, who refuse to accept or understand that long-distance relationships can be genuine and heartfelt."

She explained that she sometimes responded to negative comments with the aim of making her videos go viral and earning money from TikTok. However, she has decided to stop engaging this way: "I don't really need that money to live, eat, travel, or for anything at all. Honestly, I have no desire to reach new audiences through those videos responding to people who ultimately add nothing to my life," she concluded.

Her story has sparked various reactions on the platform, where she frequently shares personal moments and reflections in an authentic and relatable tone.
