This Wednesday, a Cuban state television channel broke its silence regarding the disappearance of Doraiky Águila Vázquez, a 48-year-old woman from Havana who has been missing since March 15. The Educational Channel, which broadcasts nationally both digitally and in analog, posted a message on its official Facebook page at the request of the missing woman's mother.

The notice provides details about Doraiky, noting she is 1.68 meters tall, weighs 65 kilograms, and has been missing from her home on Pocito Street 939, between 18 and 19 in the Lawton neighborhood of the 10 de Octubre municipality, for over four months. Presented as a public service announcement, the post requests citizen cooperation and includes several phone numbers for family members who are seeking information about her whereabouts: Maura (50255751), Gustavo (54236523), and Juan Ramón (54011152).

The official press's acknowledgment of the case follows a vigorous campaign on social media and independent outlets, where the family's desperation due to the lack of responses has been well-documented. Since April, Doraiky's mother has made numerous public pleas, even begging on her knees for help, directly holding the government accountable for the authorities' inaction, and expressing the torment of living over 130 days without knowing if her daughter is alive or dead.

Doraiky Águila was last seen leaving her home, and since then, despite the family's efforts, there has been no significant progress reported in the official investigation. The family has continued their search independently, while they cry out for an effective response from the authorities.

The belated response from the Educational Channel is a reaction to growing public pressure, and simply posting on social media is not enough. Urgent and diligent action from the police and prosecution is necessary to unravel the mystery of her disappearance.

In the comments section of the post, journalist Marta María Ramírez emphasized the necessity for media involvement in actively spreading early alerts about disappearances, given their critical importance. Ramírez pointed out that, according to available information, at least two Cuban girls remain missing—one for three years, since she was 16, and another just three years old—alongside several adult women.

"We must speak about these disappearances and demand the State fulfill its duty," she asserted. The journalist also questioned whether the broadcast was part of the channel's television programming or merely shared on social networks.
