Jorge Losada's Health Status Clarified Amidst Death Hoax

"To those in Miami spreading rumors about Jorge Losada Moreno's death, let me assure you, he is in good health. Stop spreading false news. Losada is doing just fine." With these words, Luis Lacosta, the art director at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), took to Facebook on Tuesday to debunk the false report circulating on social media about the supposed death of the 91-year-old Cuban actor, Jorge Losada.

The post, which featured a recent photo of Losada giving a thumbs-up, was a call to halt the rumors and respect the veteran actor's recovery process. Previously, Lacosta and other profiles, like Actuar Cuba Artes Escénicas, had to refute similar false claims, urging everyone to act responsibly to prevent unnecessary distress and maintain the peace of the actor and his family.

Even Alexander, a lodging manager, confirmed that he had spoken with Losada over the phone during that time. "You'll keep going strong, Losada isn't going anywhere soon," he wrote, joining in the wave of supportive messages aimed at dispelling the rumors.

However, it is important to note that the actor is dealing with fragile health, which has necessitated numerous acts of solidarity from the Cuban community, both on the island and abroad. In recent months, Losada has been the focus of campaigns to gather food, financial donations, blood, and a bath chair, crucial for his daily care since his caregivers cannot assist him without the proper equipment.

The urgent call for the bath chair was publicized by Lacosta and producer Michel Vega, but it was influencer and former boxer Lino Tomasén, also known as El Hombre de Hierro, who managed to rally the community. In less than a day, a donation facilitated by José from Destiny Travel and humorously shared by Limay Blanco, resulted in the chair's delivery to Losada.

"Here's your brand-new chair, my friend," an emotional Tomasén said in a video. Days prior, he had also provided Losada with money and groceries, urging others to donate as well: "Remember, at some point you prayed to be where you are now. It's time to show your gratitude, even if it's just with a dollar."

In 2024, Losada was hospitalized due to complications with a hip prosthesis, and in 2021, he underwent surgery that led to severe anemia, without access to necessary medications in Cuba. Each of these medical episodes has sparked social media campaigns due to the lack of institutional support.

Jorge Losada, who last appeared on television in the 2023 telenovela "Renacer," has devoted his life to enriching Cuban culture.
