Eduardo Antonio Calls Out Hypocritical Emigrants: "You're a Fraud"

Saturday, July 26, 2025 by Felix Ortiz

Cuban singer Eduardo Antonio didn't hold back on Friday when he delivered a powerful message aimed at emigrants who criticize fellow emigrants. Through a video shared on his Instagram account, the artist firmly questioned, "Why do you criticize emigrants if you are one too?" making his outrage clear over the hypocritical attitudes within the migrant community.

Without naming names, Eduardo Antonio dropped a phrase that has sparked a wave of reactions on social media: "Of course, because you have another special quality: derogatory emigrant. Hashtag: you're a fraud." The clip was swiftly supported by his followers, many of whom praised his courage to voice what others think but hesitate to say publicly.

Known for his candid style, the artist, also referred to as El Divo de Placetas, has frequently used his digital platforms to speak on issues affecting Cubans both on the island and abroad, especially those who have had to start anew in foreign lands. So far, the artist has not revealed any specifics about who his words were directed at, but his comments arrive at a time when established Cubans in the United States are criticizing those who have recently arrived.

In recent years, thousands of Cubans have made their way to the United States after navigating perilous routes or participating in migrant programs. Upon arrival, many face challenges beyond language barriers, employment, and immigration legality; they also confront criticism from their fellow countrymen who have already settled in the country.

This phenomenon isn't new but has gained more visibility in recent months. A segment of the Cuban exile community, particularly in Florida, has openly voiced support for the arrests and deportations conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
