Javier Berridy Tells Miami Critics to Stop Complaining

Saturday, July 26, 2025 by Felix Ortiz

Cuban comedian Javier Berridy has once again stirred conversation on social media with one of his signature reflections, this time targeting those who incessantly criticize life in Miami. "I was just at the barbershop and met a guy who wouldn't stop complaining about Miami—traffic, rent, the people, saying there's no more room here," the comedian recounted.

Berridy, known for his straightforward and candid style, addressed the complaints of many residents who criticize Miami's traffic, high costs, city expansion, or simply the lifestyle in this hub of Cuban exiles. "People are constantly complaining about Miami. I know Miami is tough right now, but if you can move somewhere else, don't complain about Miami. There are other options," he stated in one of his videos.

He acknowledged that the city is "on fire" with construction everywhere, skyrocketing prices, and increasingly unbearable traffic, but made it clear that complaining isn't the answer. "Listen, the good thing is if we left Cuba or whatever country you came from, the United States is huge. If you don't like Miami, my friend, there's more land, more towns, more cities elsewhere... Stop complaining so much about Miami!" he expressed in his typical style.

His message sparked a debate among his followers: "Miami drives me crazy, and my plan is to retire elsewhere. For now, I'm staying because this is where my loved ones are, and that's enough"; "If they disagree with what you're saying, they can return to Cuba or wherever they came from and be happy there"; "But they don't want to learn English, that's why they don't leave Miami"; "People are afraid of English, but life is much better and calmer"; "Very true. Miami is beautiful even with its craziness. It's called diversity. If you don't get that, you're missing out."

Others chimed in with their thoughts: "I totally agree with you, that's why I left so long ago. You can't live there anymore, it's all about surviving"; "That's exactly what I say—if you don't like it, move on. I don't understand why they're in Miami if it's supposedly so bad. Also, I have friends from many countries, and no one complains; they're just grateful to be here. Unfortunately, we Cubans complain about everything, and in Cuba, we were like sheep."
