The Cuban Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) has officially announced that July 25, 26, and 27 will be public holidays in observance of National Rebellion Day. However, the ministry clarified that the holiday on Sunday, July 27, will not be moved to Monday, July 28. According to the MTSS's statement, shared on Facebook by the Social Workers El Purial Holguín page, work will be suspended nationwide during these dates, and there will be no compensatory day off on the following Monday.

Every year, during the days surrounding July 26, Cuba commemorates the 1953 attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks. The Cuban government uses this occasion to promote its communist regime, often featuring images of José Martí and Fidel Castro to bolster the narrative of a single-party ideology.

Central Event in Ciego de Ávila

This year, the main event will be held in Ciego de Ávila. The location was chosen because it "maintains stability in meeting key economic, political, and social tasks, aided by the work and coordination system of the Party and Government structures with the people, highlighting the active participation of new generations as a sign of continuity," as reported by the Granma newspaper.

Propaganda Amid Crisis

While the government continues its politically charged celebrations, the Cuban population faces a harsh reality of poverty, severe shortages, and a crumbling economy. The scarcity of food, medicine, transportation, and basic services has plunged millions into despair, even as authorities persist in celebrating "victories" that seem far removed from the country's grim reality.
