Elderly Cuban Man Missing in Guantánamo Found Alive but Injured and Dehydrated

After an extensive search lasting several days, Edy Rodríguez Columbié, an elderly Cuban man who had been missing in Guantánamo, was discovered alive on Wednesday. Despite suffering from injuries and dehydration, Rodríguez is currently safe and receiving medical care at a local hospital.

Journalist Miguel Reyes confirmed Rodríguez's condition via his Facebook page, Miguel Noticias. "He has been found! Thank God, he is alive and now in the hospital. Though he was injured and dehydrated, he is alive. Thanks to all the friends of #MiguelNoticias who helped in the search. God bless you all," shared Dane Rodríguez, a family member.

Rodríguez, who resides in the Imías municipality, had traveled to the city of Guantánamo to accompany his ailing brother for a scheduled surgery at the province's General Hospital. His sudden disappearance sparked a call for help on social media and among local residents.

The family sought assistance in locating him without informing his mother due to her fragile health condition, as she suffers from a heart disease. Local authorities were also notified to aid in the search efforts.

Recently, it was reported that another elderly individual, Héctor Llanes Saavedras from Camagüey, is also missing. His family has urgently requested assistance in finding him. Exiled journalist José Luis Tan Estrada raised the alarm about Llanes' disappearance, stating, "We need your help. The man in the photo has been missing for seven days."

Additionally, a staff member at Guantánamo's Dr. Agostinho Neto General Teaching Hospital appealed for public assistance to locate the relatives of an elderly man found on the street. He was brought to the emergency room and remains hospitalized with a "guarded prognosis."
