An undercover operation by Miami Police and the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Human Trafficking Unit led to the arrest of two women accused of offering prostitution services online.

One of the arrested individuals is a Dominican tourist, while the identity and origin of the second woman have not been publicly disclosed. The women were identified as Dary García Silva, 54, and Maira Alejandra Carnaval, 34.

Authorities reported that both women allegedly used an adult advertising website to arrange a meeting with supposed clients at a local hotel. During the sting, an undercover officer contacted one of the suspects and arranged a meeting where, for $150, he could spend half an hour with her. Upon arrival, the officer was surprised to find two women in the room.

"The officer arrives at the scene, makes a call, and then speaks with the woman who had told him he could spend half an hour with her for $150. When he knocks on the door, he finds two women," stated Mike Vega, Miami Police spokesperson, in a statement to Univision.

Dary García Silva resides in the Dominican Republic and had arrived in Miami on July 4, according to authorities. This Thursday, she appeared in court, where she was given a $1,900 bond.

Law enforcement has warned about the rise in these types of crimes in the city. "This kind of illegal activity has become very common," they noted, adding that investigations to identify and halt these networks are ongoing daily. No further details about the case have been disclosed at the time of this report.

Recent Raid on Suspected Brothels

This latest operation comes just days after another incident earlier in July, where three women were arrested at two massage centers in Miami-Dade County, also for allegedly offering sexual services in exchange for money. The businesses, Angelina Spa and New Image Spa, were operating as spas but were under investigation following reports of possible illicit activities.

In that case, undercover agents visited the establishments posing as clients and documented explicit offers of sexual services by the staff. At Angelina Spa, Yorlenis Rodríguez, 45, of Cuban nationality, and Heidi Ronda Pérez, 34, were detained. Meanwhile, at New Image Spa, Milenis González Torres, 38, was arrested.

In one scenario, a detainee offered the agent a choice of "hand," "mouth," or "everything," while touching his private parts. Another woman was arrested when she was found half-naked and made a direct sexual proposal to the officer. In all cases, after either the acceptance of the offer or the exchange of money, the agents proceeded with the arrests. The fees for these sexual services ranged from $150 to $300, according to police reports.

Escalating Trend

Miami-Dade authorities have ramped up their efforts to tackle these crimes by conducting undercover operations to identify sexual exploitation hotspots in hotels, spas, massage centers, and other venues. Alongside the legal aspect, potential links to human trafficking networks are also being examined, a growing concern in South Florida.

The frequent involvement of foreign women in these cases raises further questions about transnational trafficking and the potential vulnerability of migrant women who arrive in the United States with economic hopes but end up ensnared in exploitative environments.
