Cuban Content Creator's Dinner Surprise: "Save the Gourmet Treats"

Thursday, July 17, 2025 by Robert Castillo

Cuban content creator Albarina Martínez, known on Instagram as @albarinam, recently shared a humorous video showcasing how a simple dinner with friends can turn into a culinary, and health-related, conundrum.

In the video, Albarina is seen discussing with her partner the preparations for hosting two couples from their social circle. She had meticulously organized everything: a roasted pork leg, fried plantains, wine, and some gourmet fare lovingly prepared.

However, as she chatted with her husband, dish after dish from the menu was struck off. The dietary habits of their guests have evolved over the years, revealing a surprise—now all their friends have medical restrictions.

With diets aimed at controlling cholesterol, sugar levels, and triglycerides, the traditional Cuban menu was nearly completely dismissed. No pork, no fried plantains, no wine, and certainly not those delicious gourmet treats she had enthusiastically prepared.

Albarina decided to rethink the dinner. She and her husband concluded that the most sensible option was to serve chicken soup and offer chamomile tea, "so everyone leaves well-nourished and healthy."

Nonetheless, Albarina made it clear that the gourmet food wouldn't go to waste. "Save all the gourmet treats; we'll eat them ourselves, and if we die... we'll die happy!"

The video resonated with many, as it captures the essence of dining with friends not just as a fun gathering but also highlights the adult reality of dietary restrictions. It reflects that uniquely Cuban way of finding humor in the everyday without losing the zest for life—or appetite.
