A traffic accident on Tuesday in Mayarí, a municipality in Holguín, resulted in seven people being injured after a private truck overturned due to wet pavement conditions. Emilio Rodríguez Pupo shared on Facebook that the incident occurred shortly after 2:30 PM between Arroyo Blanco and Los Coco. A red truck, traveling the Holguín–Moa route, lost control while attempting to rejoin the road.

Preliminary reports from the Revolutionary National Police (PNR) suggest that the driver tried to regain the wet road, slick from light rain, which led to skidding, overturning, and crashing into a tree. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the vehicle's seven occupants sustained injuries and were quickly taken to Mártires de Mayarí Hospital for medical care.

The injured individuals include:

  • Marcelo Delfín Sánchez, 54, from Río Grande, Frank País municipality.
  • Reynier Gilbert Hechevarría, 41, from apartment 27, building 21, Miraflores neighborhood, Moa (currently being transferred to hospitals in Holguín).
  • Maikel Galiano Ochoa, 46, from Pedro Díaz Coello neighborhood, Holguín.
  • Roylan Rodríguez Pérez, 26, from Naranjal, Mayarí.
  • José Armando Tamayo Góngora, 30, from Mayarí.
  • Amauris Ricardo Gayardo, 46, from Carlos Manuel de Céspedes street, Mayarí.
  • Ricardo Rigñack Rigñack, 72, from El Quemaito neighborhood, Frank País municipality.

Emergency medical services were promptly activated, and top territorial authorities arrived at the municipal hospital to oversee the care of the injured, Rodríguez emphasized. So far, details about the severity of the injuries or potential liabilities in the accident have not been disclosed.

In the comments section, Dagmar Abad Noa highlighted that the injured were treated at the General Hospital Mártires in Mayarí, with one patient being transferred to the provincial capital. "The others remain under observation. Wishing them a quick recovery," Abad noted.

Recently, several road incidents have raised alarms in various provinces of the country. In Holguín, a comparable situation unfolded when a motorcycle ignored a stop sign and collided with a tricycle, causing a triple crash involving a state Metrotaxi service vehicle. Almost simultaneously, in Caibarién, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car, being thrown several meters by the impact and dying before receiving medical aid.

In Ciego de Ávila, another alarming event occurred when a trailer truck caught fire completely while traveling on the Central Highway, resulting in significant material losses but fortunately no human casualties.
