Cuban Woman Leaves Jehovah's Witnesses Speechless with Her Witty Comeback

Sunday, July 20, 2025 by Alex Smith

A Cuban mother has earned applause and laughter from thousands on TikTok after she welcomed Jehovah's Witnesses to her doorstep in true Cuban fashion. The video, shared by her daughter @mayabrydson and filmed in Valencia, Spain, showcases the woman calmly and confidently responding to the preachers' invitation with a now-viral phrase: "Of course, I believe in God... but in my own. There's not just one God; everyone has their own. Mine is called Oshún."

To add a quintessentially Cuban twist, she humorously remarked, "I could preach too, and I could dance here and perform rituals... but I don't have the time." She proudly emphasized her Cuban heritage, saying, "We have a powerful orisha pantheon."

The scene has surpassed 1.6 million views and sparked a flood of comments, ranging from people sharing their own experiences with early-morning preachers to those applauding her graceful and polite defense of her Yoruba faith. One user commented, "She served us Santería, respect, and education. Slay queen." Another wrote, "Now I want the Witnesses to come to my house just so I can tell them the same thing!"

Her daughter proudly described the moment, saying, "My mother has an innate talent for making everyone around her laugh. Time to show the world, or klk mom."

Balancing humor, respect, and cultural affirmation, this Cuban mother's response has shown that one can be firm without being rude, funny without mocking, and religious without imposing. If there's one thing Cuban women have, it's style... even when welcoming Jehovah's Witnesses.
