Friday, July 11, 2025 by Ava Castillo

A young Cuban woman living in the United States took to TikTok to share her grandmother's unexpected and amusing response upon hearing that she was considering moving to Cuba to escape the high costs of living in the U.S. "Oh, Grandma, I'm thinking of moving to Cuba! Here, I have to pay for this, that... I'm ready to return the car to the dealer, to the bank, and head there with my kids," the young woman explained while driving with her grandmother, a moment that has entertained hundreds on social media.

The grandmother, maintaining her poise, did not hesitate to voice her opinion: "Food is very expensive in Cuba," she remarked, clearly indicating that she didn't think returning to the island was a wise decision.

The conversation didn't end there. When the granddaughter mentioned the idea of sending her grandmother to Cuba for a visit lasting three or four months, the grandmother was quick to object. "Nooo! Three or four days, not months... I spent 75 years there!" she exclaimed with laughter, emphasizing her desire only to visit family for a few days before promptly returning to the U.S.

The video, shared by user @yuslayneperezmoya, has garnered thousands of views and comments praising the grandmother's wit and realistic perspective, resonating with many in the Cuban diaspora.
