Chocolate MC Fears for His Life in Jail: "They're Offering $25,000 to Shoot Me"

Yosvanis Sierra, the Cuban reggaeton artist known as Chocolate MC, has spoken out from Miami-Dade jail, where he has been held since early June, expressing grave concerns for his safety. In an exclusive interview with Univision 23, the controversial musician claimed that individuals are offering up to $25,000 to have him killed, implicating acquaintances from the urban music scene.

"They're offering $25,000 to shoot me," Chocolate declared from the TGK Correctional Center. He shares the facility with Damián Valdés Galloso, the alleged murderer of fellow reggaeton artist El Taiger, who was shot dead in Miami last October.

Legal Troubles and Alleged Threats

Currently detained at the Metro West Detention Center, the largest detention facility in the county, Chocolate faces charges including kidnapping with a firearm and aggravated assault, stemming from an incident on June 2. According to court documents, he allegedly threatened a fan and held them against their will, though he insists the weapon in question was merely a lighter shaped like a gun.

"It was a gun-shaped lighter. I was crying and smoking a cigar when I saw a car behind me and someone filming… What was I to think, knowing people are paying to kill me?" Chocolate told journalist Mario Vallejo.

Among those he accuses are the rapper 6ix9ine and urban figures like "El Bolo," Dani Ome, and his manager Magdiel, claiming they are offering money for his whereabouts. He alleges this is similar to what happened to El Taiger before his murder.

Emotional Impact of El Taiger's Death

Chocolate MC opened up about the profound impact of El Taiger's death on him. "I saw myself in him; it could have been me. I cried, looked to the sky, and shouted, 'Why wasn't it me?'" he confessed.

He described being traumatized by the video of the crime, particularly by the sight of his colleague being dragged on the ground by Valdés Galloso "like a sack of trash."

Chocolate denies having any prior interaction with Valdés Galloso, claiming the first time he saw him was in prison, where he spat at him upon sight.

Faith and a New Beginning

The reggaeton artist has repeatedly claimed that his life is in danger. During a court appearance in June, he urged Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer to recognize the seriousness of the threats against him. "Leave me locked up here. I'm safer inside than outside... They pooled money to shoot El Taiger, José Manuel Carbajal, in the head, just like they're trying to do with me. They gathered money to kill me, to silence me," he emphasized.

Despite acknowledging a history of drug use since he was 16, Chocolate is attempting to reshape his life. "I'm happy because I have God in my heart," he said, sending a hopeful message to his fans. "I now believe they will see good results from me because I have accepted God."

Chocolate MC has an extensive legal record in Florida. This marks his ninth arrest in eight years and the fifth open case in state court. His previous charges include domestic violence, drug possession, and now, reportedly, alleged conspiracy to murder the suspect in El Taiger's killing.
