Limay Blanco Reports Another Home Burglary: "It's the Same Guy as Last Time"

Wednesday, July 9, 2025 by Oscar Guevara

Cuban comedian and philanthropist Limay Blanco took to social media to report a recent burglary at his home, allegedly committed by the same individual who had previously robbed him. The incident, which occurred during nighttime hours, was captured on video, which Blanco shared on his Instagram account.

The footage reveals the suspected thief escaping across the neighboring rooftops while Blanco films and shouts, "You're crazy, Matute, for God's sake. Get out of here, get out of here!" Frustrated, he adds, "It's the same guy who broke in last time, look."

Blanco explained in the comments section that the thief managed to steal several valuable items: "He took a water cooler, a vacuum cleaner, a drill, and attempted to take the generator." In another message, he expressed his anguish, stating, "God knows I don't do bad things. I've tried to do His will for those in need, and I don't understand why these things happen."

The comedian also confirmed he had contacted the police: "They're here, they just arrived," he responded to a follower urging him to take action. He recalled a previous incident when the thief was released due to a lack of evidence: "The first time he broke in, the video was out, and three months later, they released him."

The post sparked a wave of reactions from his followers, many expressing concern for the safety of his family and encouraging him to pursue legal action. "If today was a drill, tomorrow it could be your life," one user commented. Others criticized the inefficiency of Cuban authorities: "The problem is, if they catch him and he hasn't taken anything, according to the law, it's not considered theft," a follower wrote. Several lamented that in Cuba, "crime goes unpunished, while those who think differently are punished."

Many took the opportunity to praise Blanco's generosity, highlighting his community work and his ability to forgive. "You are a man of God, Limay. Not everyone would have done what you did for that young man," one user wrote. Another commented, "God bless you for all the good you do. You help others without asking for anything in return." Some even interpreted the incident as a test of faith: "This is a sign to set boundaries. God doesn't want you to live in fear."

Regrettably, some comments, born out of frustration, urged Limay to respond more drastically. However, the comedian made it clear that he remains firm in his Christian convictions and respect for the law: "If you hit him hard, you have to pay for it. That's how the laws are in my country," he replied to a suggestion.

This isn't the first time Limay Blanco has experienced theft at his residence. In June 2023, he reported the theft of a box of chicken, and in February, he mentioned that a pregnant sow was stolen while he was away. In July of that year, after identifying the culprit of another theft, not only did he forgive him, but he also gave the young man's family 10,000 pesos to settle a debt. "Maybe I didn't understand it then, but I felt good doing it," he explained.

Beyond his artistic career, Limay leads the Christian project "Cristo Cambia Vidas," through which he has provided over 40 homes and numerous aids to vulnerable Cuban families. Although he recently halted the distribution of houses due to some beneficiaries misusing them, he continues his work through donations, solidarity birthdays, and support for those in extreme need.

This latest incident, aside from testing his patience and faith, highlights a reality shared by thousands of Cubans: increasing insecurity, impunity, and institutional neglect. As one follower wrote, "It's not just happening to you; it happens to the farmer, the single mother, the one who has nothing. That's how Cuba is, and meanwhile, the police only act when it's convenient."

In recent weeks, Blanco has also faced other challenges, such as a road incident that damaged his car and the ingratitude of a beneficiary of his help. Nonetheless, he assures that he will continue to do good, "without expecting a reward from anyone."
