Excessive speed has been identified as the primary cause of the major accident that took place last Sunday in the town of Majagua, within the province of Ciego de Ávila, as confirmed by experts investigating the incident. Lieutenant Colonel Niurka Valdés Figueroa, head of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of the Interior in the region, informed the official newspaper Granma that the driver of a Renault truck, license plate B 236 623, lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve at a speed exceeding the legal limit in the Río Grande area.

Medical tests conducted on the driver verified that he had not consumed alcohol, emphasized the cited source. However, testimonies from survivors gathered by Granma indicate that the driver ignored warnings from several passengers who urged him to slow down shortly before the vehicle overturned.
