In the aftermath of a devastating accident in Majagua, Ciego de Ávila, four individuals, including two minors, are fighting for their lives with critical injuries. This tragic incident on Sunday claimed the lives of four people.
Dr. Julio Díaz Agramonte, the director of Roberto Rodríguez General Teaching Hospital in Morón, provided an update on Monday morning about the eight patients still under care: four are in critical condition, two are in serious condition, and two are stable but under observation.
Dr. Díaz detailed that out of the nine patients initially transferred to the hospital, one succumbed to a cardiac arrest despite medical efforts to revive them. Among those in critical care, two are in the pediatric intensive care unit, receiving ventilation support. One of these patients, a 14-year-old boy who underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilize fractures, shows slight hemodynamic improvement despite his critical state.
The other two critically ill patients are in the intensive care unit, both on ventilators. One suffers from a traumatic brain injury and a laminar subdural hematoma, while the other has a cranial trauma, pulmonary contusion, and a right pneumothorax. "Both are stable," affirmed Dr. Díaz.
Dr. Díaz also mentioned that the patients in serious and stable condition are being closely monitored. The hospital director assured that Morón's facility is fully equipped with necessary resources, medications, and imaging equipment, which allows for comprehensive patient care. "We are maintaining optimal conditions for their ongoing treatment," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital in Ciego de Ávila city had 24 individuals hospitalized by Sunday afternoon. This group includes one adult in serious condition with thoracic trauma and four pediatric patients with multiple injuries, all reported to be out of danger.
