This past Sunday, a tragic traffic accident in the municipality of Majagua, located in Ciego de Ávila province, resulted in the preliminary deaths of three individuals, including two minors. The incident also left at least 16 others injured. According to the pro-government Facebook page Avileños de Corazón, the accident occurred on the Río Grande highway when the driver of a vehicle from the Empresa de Recursos Hidráulicos lost control, leading to the vehicle overturning while carrying several passengers.

Officials have confirmed the deaths of two children and one adult. The 16 injured individuals are currently receiving medical care, though the severity of their injuries has not been disclosed. Reports from the newspaper Invasor on its Facebook page indicate that the injured were transported to the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital in Ciego de Ávila following the accident near Majagua.

Journalist Odania García provided additional information on Facebook, revealing that the incident took place at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, on the road from Marroquín to Majagua, specifically in the stretch known as Río Grande. The vehicle involved, bearing the license plate B-236623, belonged to the Empresa de Recursos Hidráulicos and was carrying multiple passengers when it overturned due to the driver's loss of control.

García confirmed that three people died in the accident, including two minors, while the other passengers received initial treatment at the Majagua polyclinic before being transferred to the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital. Earlier, Dayami Hidalgo reported on Facebook that the accident took place "on the road to Río Grande in the municipality of Majagua," and the victims received medical attention at the Doña Emilia Polyclinic.

Traffic accidents in Cuba have been on the rise recently. On Saturday afternoon, a dramatic incident on Vía Blanca in Havana resulted in several injuries. On the same Saturday, Cuban authorities updated information regarding a fatal traffic accident at the Varadero toll booth, where a violent collision caused a car to burst into flames, killing two people.

The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. when a private vehicle traveling from Varadero to Boca de Camarioca lost control and violently struck a masonry wall near the toll booth. Witnesses reported that the car was speeding when it collided head-on with the toll booth's headstone. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was launched into the air, split in two upon landing, and one half caught fire, causing an explosion visible from various points in the area.

Subsequently, Rubén Lantigua, 33, and Amanda Naranjo, 30, were identified as the victims of the Varadero toll booth accident.
