Cuban Woman's Revenge After Hotel Theft: "They'll Remember Me"

A Cuban woman expressed her outrage on social media after alleging the theft of a piece of jewelry during her stay at a hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. In an act of retaliation, she left the hotel room in complete disarray, drenched in soda, as a form of protest. "They stole from me, but they'll have to do a lot of cleaning. At least they'll remember me," wrote the young woman, identified as Ismelia Machín, in a video shared on TikTok, showcasing the mess she created.

According to her account, a ring vanished from her hotel room, and when no resolution was forthcoming, she chose to spill soda over the beds, walls, and furniture before departing. "This is what happens to thieves. Nobody saw the ring, nobody. This is what they get for stealing," she declared angrily.

The video quickly went viral, sparking a heated debate on social media. Some users empathized with the Cuban woman's anger, while others questioned her approach. "I don't think that's right, because maybe the housekeeping staff that comes to clean the room isn't the one who took the ring," commented one user, who claimed to have worked in hotel cleaning and described the job as "very tough."

Another commenter suggested not allowing cleaning staff into the rooms: "I've been to the Dominican Republic several times, and as soon as I check in, I tell them not to clean my room. I put up the 'do not disturb' sign, and I change my towels myself. I've never had any problems that way."

As of now, it remains unclear whether the Cuban woman filed a formal complaint with hotel management or if there is an investigation into the alleged theft. Later, she posted another video on her TikTok profile detailing the incident and warning future vacationers to Punta Cana.
