Tuesday, July 1, 2025 by Alex Smith

A man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg following an apparent altercation over a parking spot on Monday morning in Miami's Little Havana. The victim, Edgar Morales, recounted to Telemundo 51 that after he moved his car at the request of a neighbor, the neighbor shot him in the leg and then pointed the weapon at his head.

"He told me to move the car... the owner called him, so I moved the car a block away... He tried to shoot me, fired a shot, and grazed my leg," Morales explained. He had been visiting his mother and dropping off his child when the incident occurred. In a struggle with the assailant, Morales managed to disarm him.

"He seemed normal, but at that moment, he had the gun and fired without any reason... He reloaded and aimed at my head, threatening to kill me and my family," Morales stated.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle with the help of his partner and remains at large. "When he tried to pull the trigger, I jumped on him and struggled with him. My stepfather and his partner helped disarm him... I called the police, but his partner found him a block away and drove him off. He's on the run now," Morales recounted.

Police arrived at Southwest 7th Avenue and 5th Street after receiving reports of the shooting. Morales was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Although the shooter has been identified, no arrest has been reported yet.
