Thursday, June 26, 2025 by Robert Castillo

Cuban actress Yany Prado took to social media to clarify misinformation she had previously shared: her father is not deceased, although he remains in a coma after being brutally attacked in Houston, Texas. The actress also announced that the alleged perpetrator of the attack has been apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border, thanks to a citizen's tip.

“My father was not murdered, it was false information that we received. We still don't know exactly what happened, but it was indeed an attempted murder. Justice will be served! My father is alive! Please pray for his speedy recovery,” she posted on Instagram alongside a photo of the alleged attacker.

Initial Misunderstanding and Family's Ordeal

Yany emphasized that both she and her family initially received a grim report from Houston, suggesting her father had been killed. “On Sunday, my family and I were led to believe that my dad had been murdered,” she stated in a series of videos shared on her Instagram stories.

The actress speculated that the false information might have been circulated to protect her father while the assailant was still at large. “You have no idea what I am going through right now, not just me, my entire family, because we were made to believe he was dead. I don't know if it was to protect him, because they hadn't caught that bastard yet,” she said tearfully.

Community Support Leads to Suspect's Arrest

After Yany shared the alleged attacker's photo on social media, her followers rapidly spread the word, which played a crucial role in his capture. “Thanks to all of you, they caught Pedro Luis Rodríguez Naranjo when he tried crossing the border,” she expressed with gratitude.

She shared that an anonymous woman alerted authorities after recognizing the suspect, leading to his arrest. “A lady... that lady is an angel, I don't know who she is, but she alerted the authorities, and that’s how they caught him. So, he has been captured... I wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, because thanks to you, justice will be served,” she explained.

Struggle for a Humanitarian Visa

One of Yany’s major challenges now is her inability to travel to the United States, where her father is hospitalized. “I’m figuring out how to resolve this situation because I don't have a visa for the United States, and my dad is an American citizen... I need to be there with him,” she admitted.

The actress has initiated the process of urgently obtaining a humanitarian visa, as she needs to be by her father’s side. “I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I have to get this humanitarian visa to be with my father and sing to him, talk to him; according to doctors, that helps a lot for the patient to wake up, and I know he will,” she said confidently.

“I trust and have faith that my father will come through this because he is a champion,” she concluded.
