This Wednesday, a heartfelt gathering will take place as family and friends come together to remember Geosvany Fidel Rivalta, a beloved tourism driver whose body was tragically discovered after he had been missing since June 19. The memorial will be held in Ranchuelo, Villa Clara, where Geosvany was cherished for his kind nature and exemplary work ethic.

"Today, June 25, 2025, in Ranchuelo, Villa Clara, family, friends, and the community: We are holding a vigil not to say goodbye, but to ensure you rest undisturbed in eternal peace," wrote Adalberto Fuentes, a friend and colleague, in a poignant Facebook post. Fuentes paid tribute to the joy and affection that Geosvany, affectionately known as 'Rivaltica,' inspired.

"To you, 'Rivaltica,' as we lovingly called you—joyful young man, trusted friend, and impeccable worker—you will forever remain in our hearts. We believe the seeds you planted will flourish, and your legacy will endure. Rest in peace, brother," Fuentes concluded.

A Grisly Discovery After Days of Searching

Geosvany, also known to close ones as "Fidelito," was found deceased near Jovellanos in Matanzas after a tense search led by family, friends, and concerned citizens. He went missing on June 19 while traveling from Ranchuelo to Matanzas in a tourism vehicle.

The body, significantly decomposed, was located in a rural area, suggesting he may have been killed the day he disappeared, according to official communicator Henry Omar Pérez. The gray Peugeot 301 he drove, license plate T-023092, remains missing.

A Respected Worker and a Family's Tragedy

Initial reports mistakenly identified him as a taxi driver; however, it was later clarified that Geosvany was a professional driver for Transgaviota Centro, a state tourism company. He resided in Caibarién with his pregnant wife and was the son of a founding driver of the same company.

"He was a diligent and responsible young man, deeply valued by family and colleagues. Anticipating the birth of his child, the news of his death, especially so close to learning their child's gender, is an immeasurable tragedy," emphasized Pérez.

Pérez also called for the investigation and trial to deliver the harshest possible punishment for those responsible, though he did not provide further details about the police investigation.

A Desperate Search and Community Outcry

Since Geosvany's disappearance, social media flooded with posts featuring his photo, vehicle details, and pleas for assistance. His phone was last traced to Palmira, Cienfuegos, before it went completely silent.

The lack of response from authorities during the search was a source of profound anxiety and frustration for those close to him. "The criminals aren't from another world. They have families; they are someone's neighbors. You know this isn't right," urged Adriana Rodríguez, a friend, calling for community involvement to identify the culprits.

Geosvany's death has led to an outpouring of grief, with hundreds of comments from friends, colleagues, and strangers expressing condolences and sorrow. Among the messages are: "Rest in peace, brother," "You'll always be in our hearts," "My condolences to the family," "Eternal light for you, Rivaltica," and "Justice is in God's hands."

As of the article's conclusion, authorities have not released an official statement about the case, nor have they disclosed if any suspects have been detained or investigated. Geosvany's murder adds to a troubling trend of similar incidents during interprovincial travel, highlighting an alarming security situation in Cuba.
