Thursday, June 26, 2025 by Alexander Flores

A young Cuban woman caused an intense emotional stir within her family when she unexpectedly returned to Cuba after spending over two years abroad. The reunion, captured on video by the user known as @lasmarycedeo, culminated with her mother fainting from the shock of seeing her daughter.

“Coming home to my mother’s arms after 2 years, 5 months, and 11 days. Thank you, God, for so much,” the young woman wrote in her original post. The footage shows the precise moment her mother, overwhelmed with emotion, collapses to the floor.

While the surprise was filled with love, it sparked concern among viewers. “Lasmary, how could you just show up like that?” a follower commented. Another warned about the high levels of stress many families in Cuba endure: “It's touching, but don’t do that. Life in Cuba is stressful enough, and a surprise like this can be overwhelming for parents.”

Lasmary herself admitted she wouldn’t do it again: “Exactly, never doing that again,” she replied to a comment.

The video triggered a flood of emotional responses. Numerous users related to the scene, sharing their own stories of long years without being able to hug their mothers. “I’m at four and a half years now,” one person shared.

Despite the initial scare, the reunion highlights the deep familial bonds that connect many Cubans scattered across the globe and the emotional weight of returning home after years away.
