In a significant operation, Florida authorities, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, successfully rescued 60 missing children who were believed to be victims of human trafficking. Dubbed Operation Dragon’s Eye, this initiative is regarded as one of the most extensive child rescue efforts in U.S. history.

The operation, conducted over two weeks in the Tampa Bay area of central Florida, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals. These detainees face charges related to human trafficking, child neglect, drug possession, and drug trafficking, as reported by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier on Monday. "If you victimize children, you will go to jail, end of story," Uthmeier asserted during a press briefing.

The rescued children, ranging in age from 9 to 17, were provided with medical attention and psychological support after their recovery. Many of these minors had been reported missing and were the subjects of active searches by authorities.

Led by the U.S. Marshals Service and supported by nearly 20 state and federal agencies, this joint effort targeted human trafficking networks. "Saving 60 children... that number sends a message that Florida will never be a safe haven for traffickers," warned Mark Glass, commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Officials emphasized their commitment to intensifying operations against child trafficking and exploitation throughout the state.
