The individual suspected of the brutal killing of a 9-year-old girl in Río Cauto, located in Granma Province, has been apprehended by the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) forces. This news surfaced Monday through various social media reports.

Official journalist Roberto Mesa Matos shared on Facebook that MININT agents captured the man involved in the tragic incident that resulted in the death of the young girl in Grito de Yara, Río Cauto. Meanwhile, the pro-government page "Entérate con Aytana Alama" confirmed that the operation received assistance from local farmers. The accused attempted to flee following the crime but was eventually tracked down by authorities after an extensive search.

"Now the residents of the area can sleep more peacefully knowing that such a cruel individual is where he should be," stated a regime spokesperson, though no further details about the suspect's identity or the exact circumstances of the crime were provided.

A Facebook user named Kim Barban provided additional information about the victim, mentioning that she was an orphan living with her grandparents, who lacked adequate resources to care for her. Barban claimed that authorities were previously alerted to relocate the child to a children's home, but no action was taken. They also noted that a similar incident occurred months earlier involving another child from the same family.

Roxi Rivera, identified as the victim's cousin, confirmed in the Facebook group "Denouncing Crimes in Cuba" the capture of the fugitive, allegedly responsible for the heinous act. The initial complaint was posted on June 22 in the same group by Rivera, who claimed to be the victim's relative and shared images of both the girl and the alleged perpetrator.

In her message, she wrote: "On the morning of 6/20/2025, this murderer slashed the throat of this 9-year-old girl. This happened in Grito de Yara, Río Cauto, Granma. The authorities have not caught him yet. Help me demand justice for my little cousin; he must pay for what he did."

In the comments section, Rivera mentioned that "the murderer is still roaming the streets, having evaded the police twice." She further explained that the motive for the crime remains unknown and added, "The girl was at home while her parents were in the fields, and he entered. I only ask for justice for the girl; he is still out there."

Additionally, she revealed that the girl's mother was murdered previously, though not by the same person accused of the girl's killing, without providing further details about that incident. She emphasized that the alleged killer "was known to the family." When asked about the fugitive's identity, she clarified: "Carrasco, a neighbor," which appears to be the name of the killer.

In related news, Cuban authorities recently arrested Yojanner Silega Víctor in the town of Cárdenas, Matanzas Province. He is accused of murdering a coachman in May. The pro-government profile "Con Todos la Victoria" reported on Facebook that this crime occurred during a robbery attempt when the assailant allegedly attacked the coachman to steal the horse pulling his vehicle.
