In a significant development, Cuban authorities have apprehended Yojanner Silega Víctor in the town of Cárdenas, situated in Matanzas Province. Silega is accused of the murder of a coachman that took place in May. According to the pro-government Facebook page "Con Todos la Victoria," the crime occurred during a robbery attempt when the suspect allegedly assaulted the coachman to steal the horse pulling his carriage.

The attack resulted in the victim falling to the ground and sustaining severe injuries, which ultimately led to his death days later. In addition to the murder charge, Silega is reportedly linked to other crimes, including the theft and illegal slaughter of livestock. He is currently in custody and facing charges for these offenses, as per the regime's spokesperson.

Turning back to October 2024, Santiago de Cuba was rocked by a violent crime that left the community in shock: the murder of Yorlandi Rodríguez Valenciano, a young Ministry of Interior officer. Rodríguez was ambushed by several attackers after being deceived by a female accomplice. His body was discovered in a grassy area, and the main suspects, including twin brothers known as "Los Mellizos," were apprehended following a police operation. Later that November, also in Santiago de Cuba, authorities captured the alleged perpetrator of a series of murders targeting security guards in various city locations.

This suspect is believed to have killed two guards—one at the State Agricultural Market "El Santiaguero" and another at the "Café Continental" Bar and Restaurant—and attempted to kill a third at "El Acuario." The police also linked him to other break-ins, raising concerns over his potential serial nature.

By February 2025, another notable arrest took place in Matanzas, where Yoandy Castro was detained, suspected of murdering 75-year-old teacher Esperanza Cabrera Melvin, who had been missing since December 2024. The suspect was identified after boasting about his crime while intoxicated, claiming he would "beat her like Esperanza." The case reignited public debate about impunity, the decline of Cuba's judicial system, and the growing sense of insecurity affecting communities nationwide.
