Sunday, June 22, 2025 by Ava Castillo

While Miami is often seen as the vibrant epicenter of Florida—famed for its nightlife, beaches, and significant immigration influx—it surprisingly isn't the state's most populous city. According to the 2024 population estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau, as reported by NBC Miami, Jacksonville claims the top spot, boasting a population that exceeds Miami's by over 500,000 residents.

The official numbers reveal that Jacksonville is home to 1,009,833 people, whereas the Sunshine City's more renowned area, Miami, houses just 487,014 individuals. This places Jacksonville at more than double the population of Miami.
