In the wake of the tragic truck accident in Pinar del Río that claimed the lives of four individuals, two of the injured remain in critical condition and are still hospitalized. Alberto Rodríguez Martínez, who recently underwent surgery, is in a "critical" state with a guarded prognosis at the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado Clinical-Surgical Hospital, as reported by Radio Guamá. Meanwhile, 10-year-old Arlenis Martínez Blanco is still listed as in serious condition, suffering from moderate traumatic brain injury at the Pepe Portilla Pediatric Hospital.

Dr. Héctor Rodríguez Martínez, an intensive care physician at the ICU 2 in the Pinar del Río Clinical-Surgical Hospital, stated that Rodríguez Martínez "arrived at our emergency room in shock. An immediate assessment by the multidisciplinary team revealed a hemoperitoneum." He further explained, "He was promptly taken to the operating room and started on the appropriate treatment for this type of patient in therapy."

"The patient is conscious and no longer shows signs of thermal gradients or active bleeding; however, he remains critical with a very guarded prognosis. We will continue to monitor him closely in the coming hours. He is receiving the necessary therapeutic support with meticulous vital care," added the doctor.

On the other hand, Dr. Jesús Lazo Cabrera, a second-degree specialist in intensive care and pediatrics, commented that young Arlenis "has skin lesions that currently do not pose a life-threatening risk." He noted, "She has a subdural hematoma and a neurological condition that is being monitored for potential escalation. This is classified as moderate traumatic brain injury, but it is not life-threatening at this time."

Lazo Cabrera cautioned that "we are watching for any new clinical or surgical developments that could worsen her condition."

Léster Ramón Garrido, aged 30, who was also admitted to the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado Clinical-Surgical Hospital, has since been discharged.

The accident occurred at 9:15 p.m. on Friday at kilometer two of the Luis Lazo highway in Pinar del Río.
