Maura Vázquez, the determined mother of Doraiky Águila Vázquez, who vanished in Havana on March 15 without a trace, remains steadfast in her pursuit to find her daughter. Numerous Cubans have witnessed her traversing different neighborhoods of the capital, holding a sign with a photo and details of her daughter, hoping to gather any information that might lead to her whereabouts.

On Friday morning, internet user Mari Olivera shared that she encountered Maura while in a car in Havana and took her photo to further disseminate her daughter's case, aiming to increase its visibility. "It broke my heart to see her suffering. Her daughter has been missing for three months, and her family tirelessly searches for her while the authorities do nothing," Olivera noted in her post. Maura, undeterred, distributes flyers daily with Doraiky's details, despite receiving no official support. "She ventures out each day to various districts with her sign and hands out flyers like the one she gave me. She’s had no assistance from the government and has reached out to many places in desperation. Doraiky left behind two children, aged 14 and 15. Please share, we must not tire of giving this visibility," pleaded Olivera.

Back in March, Maura's anguish resonated with thousands online when she made a heartfelt plea for the community to help locate her 48-year-old daughter, who disappeared during a widespread blackout. Doraiky Águila Vázquez was reported missing in Havana on March 15, 2025, and since then, her family and friends have circulated her photograph on social media, hoping to uncover any lead that could reveal her location.

Doraiky suffers from transient memory loss episodes, which have left her mentally disoriented. Her mother describes her as non-aggressive and notes she exhibited signs of disorientation days before disappearing. The description provided states she is a gray-haired woman, 48 years old, and at the time of disappearance, she wore a loose-fitting yellow dress with red flowers at the hem, and black sandals with a red stripe in the center.
