Otaola Urges Revocation of Work Visas for Cuban Artists: "A Necessary Step to Cleanse America"

Wednesday, June 11, 2025 by Henry Cruz

Cuban host Alexander Otaola has once again stirred controversy by publicly calling for the cancellation of work visas for several Cuban artists residing in the United States. He argues that their actions warrant immediate deportation.

In a recent broadcast of his show, Otaola discussed U.S. immigration authorities' raids on migrants of various nationalities. He specifically mentioned the singer Wampi, alleging that he was sent back to Cuba following the revocation of his visa.

"Wampi, the Cuban singer, who is one of the most successful artists here on a work visa, was caught at the airport. His visa was canceled, and he was put on the same flight back to Havana," Otaola claimed.

While several platforms have echoed this report, the artist has not confirmed that his visa was officially revoked or that he was forced to return to Cuba.

Otaola went further, suggesting similar actions should be taken against other artists, such as Laritza Bacallao. "They should do the same with Laritza Bacallao, who is here on the same visa. Don't wait a year and a day; go get her now. At her next concert, they might just show up, as they did with the artist from Zimbabwe. I'm not surprised at all," he stated.

He also mentioned Samantha Hernández, the host of "La Familia Cubana" and former partner of Wampi, asserting she should face the same fate because she entered with humanitarian parole. "Samantha should also be easy to deport because she came with humanitarian parole, which no longer exists. They can send her back to promote all the wonderful new businesses opening in Cuba," Otaola remarked.

With apparent support for current immigration policies, Otaola added, "The only way to clean up the United States is like this. Otherwise, we're turning a blind eye and allowing the disrespect to continue, and this administration has been clear about its stance from the start."

Otaola's statements have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some applauding his position while others criticize his rhetoric and lack of empathy toward many migrants facing deportation.
