A man barricaded himself inside his apartment after physically assaulting his five-year-old son in Tamiami, Miami-Dade County, on Saturday afternoon. The Pembroke Pines Police Department reported that both officers and firefighters responded to a "domestic incident" at a residence on Southwest 177th Avenue at 9:42 a.m. on Tuesday, discovering the child injured. The girl sustained a laceration to her throat, and investigators found a knife believed to have been used in the crime. Authorities noted that Durán and the child's mother shared custody, and he had taken the girl to his home. Allegedly, Durán's grandmother arrived at the scene while the assault was occurring and notified the police.
