Thursday, June 5, 2025 by Samantha Mendoza

Cuban reggaeton artist Yosvani Arismín Sierra Hernández, widely known as Chocolate MC, appeared before Judge Mindy Glazer in the Miami-Dade County courtroom on Thursday. The judge denied his request for bail, meaning he will remain in custody as the investigations against him continue. Earlier, the singer had refused to attend court on June 4th, but Judge Glazer insisted on his presence, even if it had to be virtual, as reported by journalist Javier Díaz.

During the court session, Chocolate MC openly expressed his distrust in his legal representation. "I don't want a lawyer. Even my lawyer is compromised," he said, visibly upset, in front of the judge. The artist declared that there is a campaign against him, stating, "They are trying to portray me as crazy because I'm saying things that could ruin many careers."

Serious Allegations and Legal Troubles

With bail denied, the Cuban artist will continue in pre-trial detention while the severe charges against him are reviewed. According to police reports, the reggaeton star was arrested on June 4th for allegedly threatening a fan with a weapon after the fan approached him for a photo. The complaint states that Chocolate MC aimed a gun at the fan's chest, forced him to surrender his vehicle, and demanded cash. When the fan's wallet was empty, Chocolate allegedly insisted on a Zelle transfer. Over the course of two hours, he coerced the victim to drive him around various parts of the city before letting him go.

Previous Legal Issues and Arrests

Journalist Javier Díaz noted that Chocolate MC may have used a plastic weapon rather than a real one, but he still faces charges of kidnapping with a firearm, aggravated assault, and armed robbery. These accusations add to the five ongoing legal cases against him, marking the ninth time he has been arrested in the United States.
