Alejandro Cuervo and Family Depart Cuba with a Message for ETECSA: "Reflect on Your Users' Needs"

Tuesday, June 3, 2025 by Richard Morales

Cuban actor Alejandro Cuervo has ventured beyond the shores of Cuba, accompanied by his wife and two children. As is his custom, Cuervo shared this significant life change with his followers on social media. From the plane, he posted a touching family photo alongside a message that caught the attention of many. "The Cuervo family says goodbye to everyone, but not forever, of course. We'll see each other soon," he wrote on Instagram.

However, Cuervo's post included more than just a farewell. He seized the opportunity to direct a pointed critique toward the state-run telecommunications company, ETECSA, hoping his words would resonate. "We say goodbye to ETECSA with a wish that they reflect on and listen to all their users, including us, especially considering the grandparents of my children and all the elderly who enjoy their favorite networks. With this significant increase in rates, it will be almost impossible," he expressed with concern.

The actor expressed regret over the high cost of mobile data services in Cuba, a challenge that impacts countless families who rely on technology to stay connected with loved ones. "Imagine, ETECSA, and I speak with the respect I was taught, UNE going through its worst moment, phones without battery and also without data—it's unhealthy for anyone," he added.

Cuervo concluded his heartfelt message by reiterating his plea, "I hope you listen, and I repeat (from respect), to everyone."

The accompanying images show the family beaming on the plane, holding their Cuban passports and boarding passes, seemingly en route to Madrid, Spain. While Cuervo has not clarified if this is a permanent move, he has traveled abroad before, but this marks the first time with his family.
