Whole Foods Expands in Miami with New Edgewater Location

Whole Foods Market is set to unveil a brand-new store in the Edgewater neighborhood of Miami on June 26. As reported by El Nuevo Herald, this new location will be housed on the ground floor of Nema Miami, a 39-story residential tower with 588 units, located at 2910 Biscayne Blvd. Spanning an impressive 53,400 square feet, it will rank among the largest Whole Foods outlets in South Florida.

The store aims to showcase more than 500 local products sourced from 130 state suppliers, featuring an array of tropical fruits, bakery items, meats, seafood, beverages, and flowers. Additionally, a café area will serve Cuban-style coffee. Highlighting local entrepreneurship, the store will offer artisanal chocolates, kombucha, flatbreads, natural juices, Gulf seafood, and craft beers from small businesses and regional brands. A wide selection of wines and locally baked goods will also be available.

The grand opening is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, promising a unique experience for early visitors. As part of the celebration, the first 300 guests will receive a reusable tote bag and a coupon with discounts randomly distributed, potentially worth up to $100. Attendees can enjoy coffee and bakery tastings in the morning, followed by artisanal ice cream samples in the afternoon. The store’s regular hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

While its local offerings are notable, Whole Foods often elicits strong reactions due to its pricing, especially from first-time visitors. One such reaction came from Cuban TikToker @soy_edgy, based in Nebraska, who shared a viral video after visiting what he humorously called “the supermarket of the rich.”

In his video, blending humor with shock, he remarks on the high prices, claiming a fish could cost as much as $500, and noting the omnipresence of the word "organic" on labels. Stunned by the cost of artisanal cheeses, he takes advantage of a free sample, quipping, “What better way to try such an expensive cheese?” He also points out that a mini Nutella jar is priced at $7.29, joking that it’s “what the rich eat.” Observing the bakery, he notes that fresh bread is sold individually and that the pastries, at $3 each, are “only affordable for the first bite.” Despite initially intending just to browse, he ends up purchasing a few items and paying significantly more than at conventional supermarkets.
