A Cuban mother living in the United States decided to travel back to Cuba to celebrate her daughter's first birthday with family on the island. She shared her heartfelt experience in a video that quickly gained popularity on TikTok.
"I'd do it a thousand times over. The birthday party was amazing. Seeing the kids' faces light up when they got their little gifts, even though there weren't many, meant a lot considering the situation in Cuba," shared the young mother, who goes by @thali_hernandez11 on the platform.
The video showcased scenes from the celebration, which featured decorations like balloons brought in from the U.S., along with sweets and presents for the children in attendance. "The decorations turned out incredible; I brought the balloons myself," she explained in the video.
She also mentioned that the event was more affordable than it would have been in the United States. "I spent less money than I would have here in the USA, honestly. But it wasn't just about the money; it was important for my daughter to celebrate with her family, most of whom are in Cuba, and those who are here traveled with me," she added.
Concluding the video, she expressed her gratitude for being able to share such a special moment in her homeland. "We truly had a wonderful time," she said, clearly appreciative of the opportunity.
