Community Seeks Support for Homeless Cuban Woman in Miami Known as "La China de San Antonio"

Saturday, May 31, 2025 by Bella Nunez

A humanitarian initiative based in Miami, known as Conducta, is rallying support for Yuli, a Cuban woman widely recognized as "La China de San Antonio de los Baños." Currently, she is facing homelessness in Miami-Dade County.

In a TikTok video shared by the account @conductadade, Yuli is seen sitting on the ground, clutching a stuffed animal. She reminisces about familiar names: “I remember people from school, like Yoani, Johana, and Diasnely... they're the ones I recall the most.” She also expresses a wish: “If someone could gift me a Chanel Mademoiselle, I love that perfume even if it costs 40 or 50, or a White Diamond.” She extends her gratitude to someone who aided her: “Damián’s wife, thank you so much for all the little things. May God bless you and your family.”

Comments on the video reveal glimpses of Yuli’s past. Emily Michel noted, “She worked at the EICTV film school. Artists are very sensitive. She collaborated with many international students on their short films and documentaries.” Adrian Santos added, “Yuli, Ritica’s daughter, lived across from my house.”

Others recall her employment history, mentioning her job at Sedano’s at 41 and 4 East in Hialeah. “Yuli is a very good and proud girl,” one user commented, recalling her work “in the phones at Sedano’s.”

Speculation about her current situation has surfaced in the comments. One user mentioned, “Losing a baby and her mother drove her to this, sadly.” Another added, “Since then, she started treating a stuffed toy as the child she lost during pregnancy.”

People have reportedly seen her around 4th Avenue and 68 Street West in Hialeah, near a Public Storage. Claudia0523 commented, “I saw her there today, brought her food. If anyone is helping her, let me know.” Another responded, “We neighbors try to help, but she’s hesitant.”

The Conducta profile has highlighted similar cases in recent months. In February, they shared the story of Maria del Carmen, a 67-year-old homeless woman. In December, they reported on Barbara, a mother of newborn twins left without a home. January saw the tale of Mayra, living on the streets after losing her daughter in an accident.

The narrative surrounding Yuli elicits both support and debate regarding her circumstances. “Every mind is independent. Depression is a severe illness even if it doesn’t seem so,” one user commented. Others, referring to her love for perfumes, added, “It’s true she loves perfumes,” referencing her Chanel remark. While some question her choices, others urge against judgment, recalling her as a beloved and hardworking individual.

“God bless you, Yuli, and may you overcome this difficult time. I remember you. I used to flirt with you, but you’d ignore me, haha,” wrote someone claiming a personal connection. Meanwhile, social media remains active with efforts to locate her and provide direct assistance.
