Monday, May 26, 2025 by Abigail Marquez

The Cuban singer La Diosa found herself in tears while recording one of the most stirring tracks for her upcoming album, Joyas. The song, “Un beso y una flor,” originally by Nino Bravo, not only stands as an anthem in Spanish music but also held a special place in her father's heart.

"In all my years of performing, I've never experienced anything quite like this," La Diosa admitted, visibly moved. "I've spent an extraordinary amount of time on this particular track, more than any other in my career. The reason is 'Un beso y una flor,' a classic by Nino Bravo, another gem in this album, and it was my father's favorite song," she shared with emotion.

In a video shared on her social media platforms, the Cuban artist is seen attempting to sing the song when she becomes overwhelmed with emotion and has to pause, unable to continue due to tears. "When I was a child, my father would sing it to me every day, and recording it has been incredibly challenging. It's hard not having him here to listen to me record his song. I wish he could hear me, wherever he may be," she expressed, her voice breaking.

Her husband and music producer, Rey El Mago, revealed that when arranging the music, he aimed to infuse it with "the most sentimental and beautiful nuances" so that La Diosa could relive the feelings she had when sharing this song with her father. Rey also encouraged her to view the recording as a tribute to her father rather than through the lens of sorrow.

This heartfelt rendition of “Un beso y una flor” will be part of the Joyas album, which La Diosa is set to officially unveil at a concert on July 19 at the Watsco Center in Miami.
