A worker at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport sustained serious injuries on Saturday while assisting in the upright of a small aircraft that had been overturned by a storm.
On Friday, a severe storm wreaked havoc across southern Broward County, according to Local 10. Among the damages was a small plane that a towing company was attempting to right inside a hangar on Saturday around noon.
During the operation, one of the plane's wings unexpectedly collapsed on the worker, inflicting serious injuries, though they are not life-threatening. Fort Lauderdale Fire Department spokesperson Frank Guzmán reported that the worker remained conscious following the accident. Guzmán withheld the worker's age and identity.
The injured man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. Earlier in May, another small plane accident left a pilot injured in St. John County, Florida.
