A Cuban woman living in Lehigh Acres, Florida, has taken a humorous and proud stand against those who dismissively label her community as a "backwater." She's done it in her own way: by throwing a lively party filled with friends, family, music, food, and plenty of joy.
In a video shared on TikTok by user @eimee02, a group of Cubans can be seen enjoying a day by the pool in the spacious backyard of a house. They've set up an inflatable slide for the kids, stocked coolers with beer, and created an atmosphere that rivals any Caribbean celebration.
"To everyone who talks down about this so-called backwater of Lehigh, check out the fabulous party thrown by the best influencer in Lehigh. Beer, look at that," the young woman is heard saying as she films the festivities.
Rather than taking offense at the remarks some people make about Lehigh Acres—a residential area in southwest Florida known for its lush greenery and single-family homes—this Cuban resident chose to highlight the positives: the peace, space, and freedom to enjoy unique moments with family.
The video has begun circulating on social media as an example of the humor and resilience with which many Cubans tackle stereotypes and criticism. It also shows that one doesn't need to live in a big city to enjoy a true Cuban-style party.
