Social Media Erupts as Puerto Rican Host Claims Miami's Cuban Community Rejects Ovi

Friday, May 9, 2025 by Richard Morales

Recently, a heated debate has taken social media by storm involving Puerto Rican host Jorge Pabón, also known as Molusco, and Cuban singer Ovi. Beyond their personal dispute, it was Molusco's statement that sparked a reaction from the Cuban community. During one of his shows, Molusco asserted, “Find the Cuban pages that support you, find the ones in Miami that back you. They don’t support you because they don’t like you, that's the truth—Miami Cubans don’t like you,” as he explained why he refused to interview Ovi on his podcast.

In response, various Cuban influencers and netizens took to social media to counter Molusco's claim. Among them was Un Martí To Durako, who stated, “Hey Molusco, who told you we don’t support Ovi? You don’t interview him so he can defend himself, but you let him be humiliated, right? That's why most Puerto Ricans don’t support you, bro.”

The comments on Un Martí's post reflected a mix of opinions from Cubans. Some said, “We support Ovi, but not as much as Bebeshito, and nobody in Cuba knows an Ovi song.” Others remarked, “Ovi is an Instagram persona like Martí or any other influencer, just for views, not a real artist, never been a hit, so don’t act like you support him.” Some defended Ovi, saying, “Don’t speak for Cubans; we do want and support Ovi, whereas you’re just a sycophant who was meek in front of Tekashi.” While others echoed Molusco’s sentiment, “Cubans don’t support him; the guy has a global hit, and Cuban pages are sharing Sandro Castro instead.” And some passionately supported Ovi, “Cubans know Ovi is the real deal, the flag bearer of Cuba.”

The conflict between Ovi and Molusco began when Molusco called Ovi during a live podcast and turned the phone towards producer Gallo, who unleashed a slew of insults at Ovi, despite Ovi having expressed his disinterest in speaking with Molusco. Ovi retaliated with his own insults and took a jab at Molusco about his son, Ocean.

Later, Ovi publicly apologized to Molusco during a live session for his remarks about the host's child, writing in a comment on one of Molusco’s posts, “This happened because you called me to stir drama; I didn’t know you were live. I apologize,” accompanied by a smiling emoji. Despite the apology, Molusco made it clear that things wouldn't end there: “I’m used to people involving my son; it’s nothing new. Let’s see if what’s coming makes you laugh with emojis like now.”

During his live stream, Ovi explained he had tried reaching out to Molusco several times for an interview following his recent musical success but received no response. When Molusco finally called, Ovi assumed it was for a cordial chat, not to be embarrassed on live air.
