A North Miami Beach man was taken into custody after injuring two individuals with a machete during a parking dispute last Friday. Pedro Humberto Mora Hernández, aged 25, is now facing two charges of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily harm, as detailed in a police report referenced by NBC6 South Florida.
Last Friday, in the 1800 block of Northeast 179th Street, Mora engaged in a verbal confrontation with two people when he noticed a white truck blocking his BMW. The argument over the parking space quickly escalated, leading Mora to retrieve a machete from his vehicle's trunk and attack the two individuals. According to the report, one victim was struck on the left arm and torso, while the other sustained a laceration to the back of the head.
One of the victims, whose identities remain undisclosed, told police that Mora "kept attacking with the machete." The second person injured had to be transported to Aventura Hospital, where a trauma surgeon later informed the channel that their condition was stable.
During Mora's court appearance, the judge ordered that he be held without bail.
In a separate recent incident, a Cuban national, Yuris Jiménez Linares, was involved in a machete attack on a security guard at Sedano's supermarket in Little Havana after being caught stealing.
Additionally, Jorge Márquez, a Cuban resident of Miami, was arrested in January for threatening neighbors with a firearm during a dispute over a parking space at his condominium in the city's northwest.
