Luisito Comunica's Cuba Visit Sparks Outrage: Rapper El B Speaks Out

Friday, May 2, 2025 by Amelia Soto

The initial video released by Mexican YouTuber Luisito Comunica detailing his trip to Cuba has stirred significant controversy. While many Cubans have expressed gratitude for his portrayal of their country's reality to the world, others, including rapper El B, have openly criticized it, arguing that the report serves as an instrument of the Castro regime's propaganda.

On Instagram, El B shared a poignant verse condemning both the Cuban dictatorship and the content creator: “Luisito, it has been 66 years of the same, every corner a ruin, building socialism with tales of idealism and resistance, romanticizing misery and decay. The blockade you mention is nonexistent; there are trade relations with 138 countries. Don't be used by those who steal with both hands and block Cuban progress and freedom. They took you to the only painted grocery store.”

Further elaborating on his sentiments through Instagram stories, El B expressed: “Certainly, this young man Luisito Comunica has no obligation or commitment to us Cubans, to the people of Cuba, or their reality because it’s not his own. He is a content creator, but if you are going to show what happens in Cuba, it should be the truth. There is no need to appease one side or the other because the truth about Cuba is singular.”

The Reality of Cuba's Governance

El B highlighted that for over 60 years, Cuba has been ruled by the same party, citing daily human rights violations and the imprisonment of citizens for expressing their thoughts. “How is it possible for a YouTuber from another country to come and film all these things? That doesn't happen in a country like Cuba. Every content creator, regardless of fame, films only what is allowed and does so with the dictatorship's authorization,” El B added.

He continued, “Stop being a mouthpiece for the Castro regime’s propaganda, stop spreading lies, stop romanticizing the destruction, misery, and decay that exists in Cuba,” El B demanded.

On Luisito Comunica’s YouTube channel, his first video about his Cuban journey has surpassed eight million views.

Understanding the Controversy Around Luisito Comunica's Cuba Video

Why is El B critical of Luisito Comunica's video?

El B criticizes Luisito Comunica's video for allegedly serving as propaganda for the Castro regime and romanticizing the socio-economic issues in Cuba, rather than presenting an unvarnished truth about the country's situation.

What does El B say about content creators filming in Cuba?

El B argues that content creators can only film what is permitted by the Cuban government, suggesting that the content is controlled and authorized by the regime, preventing an accurate depiction of the country's reality.
