A young man named Darién Almenares Sollet, a resident of the Nito Ortega area in Palma Soriano municipality, Santiago de Cuba, was stabbed in the back on May 1st during celebrations orchestrated by the Cuban regime following their official parade.

The stabbing occurred in one of the designated zones where authorities allowed parade attendees to continue their festivities after the march. According to Darién's family, who spoke with independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the attack was not directly aimed at Darién. Instead, he was attempting to protect his brother, who had become involved in an argument that escalated into violence.

Despite false rumors circulating on social media about his death, family members have confirmed that Darién is alive and recuperating at the Ambrosio Grillo Hospital in Santiago de Cuba. A photo shared from his hospital room confirms his recovery status.

As of now, the identity of the assailant remains unknown, and there is no confirmation of whether they are in police custody. This incident has raised concerns among local residents, particularly because it occurred during a large public event sponsored by the government.

This attack took place in the context of the official May Day parade, in which, according to figures from the Cuban regime, over 5.3 million people participated nationwide. The post-parade events, like those in Santiago de Cuba, are part of the government's political propaganda efforts.
